When is OI-TI advised?

What should I expect?

1. A woman would begin ovulation induction treatment on her second or third day of menstrual cycle.

2. A fertility specialist will examine you through an ultrasound scan and recommend the right medicines to stimulate the ovary to develop one or more mature follicles ( each follicle in the ovary may or may not contain a healthy egg).

3. The growth of these follicles is tracked by serial ultrasound scan.

4. The couple is advised to have intercourse during the following 3-4 days once the follicle is ready and ready for egg release.

5. Support medication (known as luteal phase support) is given for 2 weeks.

6. Pregnancy test is advised if missed period after 2-3 weeks.

Are There Any Risks?

2. Risk of twins ( multiple pregnancies) if 2 follicles develop may be there in 15% patients.

3. In 1 out of 1000 people, the prescribed medications tend to cause a strong reaction. They may develop multiple follicles in the ovaries instead of one or two. Such cases are managed by doctors through regular scans and proper medication.
